Results, score distribution and reminding students who haven't started

An exam's results page shows the average score, score distribution, class progress and every attempt. There's no button to release results: students see their scores according to the exam's settings.

Steps

  1. In “Exams”, click “Scores” on the exam card. The top of the page has “Settings”, “Share”, “Fix answer key & regrade”, “Export to Excel” and “Print report” buttons. If the exam is still a draft, the page shows a “Continue editing” button and hides the “Fix answer key & regrade” and “Export to Excel” buttons.
  2. If essay questions still need grading, the page shows a “… attempts still need essay grading…” banner — click “Open grading board”.
  3. “Overview & Score distribution” tab: average, median, highest/lowest score, number of participants and the score distribution on a 10-point scale.
  4. “Class progress” tab (when the exam is assigned to a class): see who hasn't started, who's working and who has submitted. Click “Remind students who haven't started” to send a reminder to the whole group, or “Remind” for a single student.
  5. “Attempts” tab: score on a 10-point scale (marked “(Provisional)” while some questions are still ungraded), raw score, percentage, rank and grading status. Click “Details” to see the student's whole attempt under “Student's work”: every question in the exam's order, the option the student chose and the correct answer. If the exam has essay questions, grade them right on this page.
  6. The other tabs: “Per-question analysis” (see the Item analysis guide), “Competency & difficulty matrix” (with the “Performance by tag” table) and “Rubric performance”.
  • The average score and score distribution only count fully graded attempts. In the Excel file, the email column shows the student's email (blank for people who took the exam without signing in), and the submission time column is a date-time cell in Vietnam time, so you can sort and filter it.
  • Each student can only be reminded once every 6 hours. The progress list shows up to 500 students.
  • Found a multiple-choice question with the wrong correct answer after students took the exam? Click “Fix answer key & regrade”, pick the question, mark the correct answer again, click “Preview” to see how many attempts change score, then click “Save key & regrade”. Essay scores already given stay the same; attempts still in progress are graded with the new key when they are submitted. If the question is also in a bank or another exam, those use the new key for later attempts too. After the preview, if some students who can see their score would get a different score, the “Notify students whose score changed” box appears, already ticked: they get the notification “Exam score changed: …” with the new score and the previous one (a student with several changed attempts gets just one notification), and the message after saving tells you how many students were notified. Untick it if you don't want to send them. If none of them can see their score yet, the preview says “None of these students can see their score yet, so no notice will be sent.”
