Take an exam from a link or QR code
Your teacher can send you a link or QR code for an exam. The page that opens tells you whether you can start right away, need to sign in, or whether the exam isn't open yet or has closed.

Steps
- Open the link or scan the QR code. The page shows the exam title, “Time”, “Questions”, “Attempts”, and the opening and closing times. If the exam has no opening time, it says “Any time”; if it has no closing time, it says “No closing time”. Exams the teacher has archived have the “Archived” label.
- If you have an unfinished attempt, the page says “You have an unfinished, unsubmitted attempt for this exam.” → click “Continue the exam”.
- Signed in with attempts left: click “Start the exam” (the page shows how many attempts you've used).
- Exam that doesn't need an account: enter your “Candidate's full name” (if the teacher requires it), then click “Start now”.
- Exam for a class: the page says “You need to sign in with a student account to take this exam.” → click “Sign in to take part”.
- Exam not open yet: the page says “This exam isn't open yet” with the start time; when it's time, click “Check status again”. Exam closed: the page says “This exam has ended”.
- In the exam room, the top of the page shows “Candidate: …”. Use the “Question list” to move between questions, and finally click “Submit exam” and confirm.
Common errors and how to fix them
- “You're offline. Your answers are kept on this device and will be sent when you're back online.” or “Your latest answer hasn't been saved yet. It will be retried when you submit.” → check your connection and wait until you're back online before you submit.
- “This share link doesn't exist, was changed by the teacher, or hasn't been published yet.” → ask your teacher for a new link.
- “Invalid exam session. Please reopen the link from your teacher.” → open the original link your teacher sent again.
- “Please enter your full name to start!” or “Your full name needs at least 2 characters.” → fill in your full name before you click start.
- After you submit: if the teacher hasn't allowed you to see your score yet, you see “Exam submitted!” and “The teacher hasn't allowed results to be shown right after submission.” If you're allowed to see it, your score is shown on a 10-point scale with “Correct answers”, “Score percentage” and “Time limit”, plus a “Retake the exam” button (when the exam allows several attempts) and a “Go to home” button. Reloading the results page doesn't start a new attempt: the page shows “You've already submitted this exam” with your saved result; if the exam allows several attempts, click “Start a new attempt” to take it again.
- Exams taken from a link don't have the “Check answer” button that practice exams have.
- The exam page and the name box also have an “Integrity log” block: leaving the tab or window, losing your connection, and copying or pasting are recorded for the teacher's reference; what you copy isn't stored.
